Job Description
Sofar is a globally recognized live music and events company that originated in a London flat in 2009. It was founded as a response to the declining magic in live music experiences and has since transformed into a vibrant global movement that celebrates live music, comedy, singles, dance, and more. The company is known for discovering rising talent early in their careers and providing a professional platform that supports artists at every stage. Noteworthy artists such as Billie Eilish, Jack Harlow, Chappell Roan, Leon Bridges, Olivia Dean, YEBBA, Teddy Swims, Remi Wolf, Hozier, and Lola Young have all performed at Sofar shows. Sofar creates unique, intimate live experiences in diverse and beautiful venues including private living rooms, gardens, rooftops, caves, and other unconventional spaces. The company blends world-class live performances with unique environments to provide audiences with meaningful and immersive experiences where technology is used to support artists and strengthen community connections rather than as a distraction.
Sofar is seeking a Freelance Local Producer to join its innovative and entrepreneurial global network. This is a hybrid role requiring candidates to be based in the designated city and offers flexible, commission-based pay ranging from $100 to $5,000 per month depending on event volume and performance. The Freelance Local Producer will manage, curate, and promote local Sofar events, leading the cultural impact within their city by connecting artists, venues, brands, and community partners. The role demands a hands-on, proactive individual with strong business instincts, cultural insight, and extensive local networks. Responsibilities include event planning, marketing, promotion, and execution, with an emphasis on creating memorable, high-quality pop-up experiences that engage local audiences.
This position operates with significant autonomy, offering ownership over how Sofar shows are represented locally while also providing global resources, training, and collaboration opportunities with Sofar's Global Communities team. The Producer must navigate the challenges of live event management, sales, sponsorship acquisition, and community-building, ensuring financial success for every event while maintaining high standards in hospitality and artist relations.
Sofar values passion for live events, community building, and artistic discovery. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in live event production, promotions, and sales, especially in live events or experiential marketing. Proven ability to pitch and close sponsorship deals, a deep understanding of the local cultural landscape, and excellent networking skills are essential. The Freelance Local Producer will work evenings and weekends primarily, reflecting the natural schedule of live events.
This role is perfect for self-starters who thrive on independence but value connection with a larger global community. Collaborative spirit is important as some cities may have multiple producers working together across neighborhoods or verticals. Sofar promotes diversity, inclusion, and belonging, encouraging applications from candidates with varied backgrounds. The company also uses AI tools throughout the hiring process to assist with reviewing applications but ensures final decisions are human-made. This role is more than a job; it is an opportunity to be part of a passionate community dedicated to bringing unforgettable artistic experiences to life throughout your city.
