The role at hand is focused on delivering excellent customer service in a retail environment, specifically within Lowe's store operations. This position involves engaging with customers to understand their needs, assisting them in selecting and locating merchandise, and ensuring a positive shopping experience. Candidates will be responsible for demonstrating product knowledge, answering customer inquiries, and guiding customers through their projects when necessary. The role also includes managing equipment rental contracts, ensuring store safety, and maintaining cleanliness and organization in the store. Additional responsibilities include cross-training in various store areas and detecting and reporting any suspicious activities related to shoplifting or theft. This role provides an opportunity to work in a dynamic and customer-oriented setting that values dedication, teamwork, and attention to detail. Employment is on a full-time or part-time basis depending on the store's needs with a salary that reflects the candidate's experience and skills, aligned with industry standards.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to obtain sales related licensure or registration as may be required by law
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to use common retail technology such as smart phones and tablets
  • Retail experience involving customer service and product knowledge
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks related to merchandise handling
  • Adherence to safety procedures and store policies

Job Qualifications

  • Less than 1 year experience using a computer including inputting, accessing, modifying, or outputting information
  • Less than 1 year experience using common retail technology such as smart phones and tablets
  • Less than 1 year retail experience performing tasks such as identifying and selling products based on customer needs, explaining warranties, product features, and benefits, assisting customers in locating products, building customer relationships, identifying and resolving customer issues, zone recovery, and housekeeping
  • Ability to obtain sales related licensure or registration as may be required by law

Job Duties

  • Provides SMART customer service at all times through the daily execution of Lowe's customer service policies, procedures and programs
  • Seeks out customers to understand his/her needs and assists in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and/or loading merchandise
  • Listens to and responds knowledgeably and promptly to customer and associate questions by taking them to areas of the store and walking them through projects when necessary
  • Demonstrates sincere appreciation to customers
  • Communicates information to customers regarding all stock, special order merchandise, feature benefits, application, and warranty information related to Lowe's programs
  • Writes customer contracts and invoices for equipment rental and tool repairs
  • Cross-functionally trains in other areas of the store to help deliver the best customer service
  • Detects common signs of shoplifting, theft, and other security risks, and promptly communicates them to management and/or Asset Protection
  • Ensures compliance with housekeeping standards and programs to maintain cleanliness and organization of store and working areas
  • Maintains a safe and secure work environment which may include conducting daily safety reviews, noting hazards, keeping aisles clear, and securing doors and gates
  • Adheres to all safety requirements relevant to one’s regular job duties such as top stock safety, reinstalling safety cables, use of aisle blockers, a tether line on power equipment, spotters, and safety devices
  • Operates store equipment as needed depending on one specific role and department such as Zebra phone, telephone, paging system, copiers, fax machines, computers, CCTV surveillance system, key cutter, panel saw, paint mixer, flooring cutters, compacter baler, tool rentals
