Job Description
Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Buda is a comprehensive healthcare facility known for its commitment to excellence in patient care, teamwork, and nursing professionalism. As a member of the largest not-for-profit healthcare system in Texas, Baylor Scott & White Health is dedicated to promoting the health and well-being of individuals, families, and communities throughout the region. This medical center operates a 15-bed Main Nursing Unit that blends three levels of acuity, including medical-surgical, orthopedics, intermediate care, and critical care. The unit employs a multidisciplinary approach, ensuring that high standards of nursing care are consistently delivered to patients and their families.
Baylor Scott & White - Buda also provides 24/7 emergency services through an 8-bed Emergency Department and offers adult and pediatric surgical services. Being a smaller facility allows staff to work collaboratively, fostering a team-oriented culture focused on transparency and removing barriers to providing exceptional patient care. The nursing leadership emphasizes a shared responsibility model where all team members contribute to successful patient outcomes.
The role of Registered Nurse (RN) at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Buda is a full-time position with a schedule of three 12-hour day shifts from 7 am to 7 pm. This position is designated for a mixed acuity unit and requires candidates to have prior ICU experience. Nurses must be flexible and willing to work across medical-surgical, ICU, and intermediate care units based on departmental needs, ensuring comprehensive care coverage. The patient ratios vary by acuity level, with 1:4-5 in med/surg/tele units, 1:3 in progressive/intermediate care, and 1:2 in intensive care units.
In this vital role, the RN will oversee patient care by conducting thorough clinical assessments, recognizing health issues promptly, developing and evaluating care plans, and adjusting interventions to achieve desired health outcomes. The nurse will build therapeutic relationships with patients and families, manage patient discomfort professionally, and educate patients and community members to empower informed healthcare decisions. Collaboration with colleagues and effective delegation based on team competencies are essential responsibilities, alongside maintaining compliance with the Texas Nursing Practice Act.
Registered Nurses at this facility are expected to possess a deep understanding of nursing standards, health and disease management, medications, and ethical considerations including patient privacy rights. Excellent communication skills, social abilities, and problem-solving expertise are crucial to successfully navigating the complex healthcare environment. Proficiency with basic computer applications such as Microsoft Office and electronic medical documentation systems is also required.
Baylor Scott & White Health fosters an inclusive workplace where every individual feels welcomed, valued, and supported. Joining this team means committing to the core values of faithful service with joy, a relentless pursuit of improvement, collaboration, and making a meaningful impact. The benefits package includes immediate eligibility for health and welfare benefits, a 401(k) savings plan with employer match, tuition reimbursement, and paid time off starting from the first day, reflecting the organization's commitment to staff well-being and growth.
Choosing a career with Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Buda offers an opportunity to be part of a leading organization in healthcare that champions quality, teamwork, and compassionate care in a supportive environment.
