The role at Whole Foods Market involves comprehensive responsibilities connected to the preparation, counter service, sanitation, and stocking of food products within the retail environment. Team Members are expected to adhere strictly to established Standard Operating Procedures to ensure that all food preparation activities meet the highest quality and safety standards. Key functions include assisting with the production in all Prepared Foods venues, ensuring that all foods are properly labeled, dated, covered, rotated, and meet Whole Foods Market’s quality guidelines. Team Members also document waste and spoilage accurately, follow recipes precisely, and use correct measuring devices to maintain consistency. Products must be stored neatly, with walk-ins and freezers kept clean and organized to maintain safety and freshness. Punctuality, professional grooming, and proper attire are required for all shifts, along with participation in training and team meetings.
Customer service excellence is paramount, with responsibilities extending to addressing customer needs promptly and effectively, employing suggestive selling techniques, and handling communications such as phone answering and paging courteously. Maximizing sales potential through proper product handling and merchandising is critical to operational success. Compliance with health, sanitation, and safety regulations, including weight and measure standards, is mandatory. Maintaining a clean, sanitary work environment and ensuring equipment is properly cleaned and maintained in line with company standards are essential to this role.
Beyond daily tasks, Team Members must perform designated opening, mid, and closing duties, verify sign and price accuracy, and report safety hazards without delay. Job Requirements
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- standing or walking for 6-8 hours in an 8-hour work day
- hand use including single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
- work requires bending, twisting, squatting and reaching
- exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
- exposure to temperatures up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit
- ability to work in wet and dry conditions
- ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
- ability to use tools and equipment including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
