Headhunter Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with hiring managers to define essential requirements for open positions
  • Conduct benchmark research on compensation and benefits for various positions and seniority levels
  • Calculate time-to-fill and source-of-hire metrics for each role
  • Write and place job ads in various publications
  • Explore resume databases, portfolio sites and attend job fairs to identify and connect with potential candidates
  • Participate in social media groups, professional networks and actively seek referrals from current employees, acquaintances and industry professionals to expand candidate pool
  • Utilize Boolean search techniques to identify qualified candidates for challenging roles
  • Organize and maintain well-organized candidate databases using an applicant tracking system (ATS)
  • Initiate recruitment emails to engage passive candidates and follow up as needed
  • Screen applicants, generate shortlists of qualified candidates and recommend process improvements and innovative sourcing tools
  • Conduct background checks
  • Negotiate job offers and provide feedback to candidates throughout the recruitment process
  • Stay organized and provide regular updates and feedback to clients on search progress

Headhunter Experience Requirements & Skills

  • At least 2-year work experience as a Headhunter, Executive Recruiter or HR recruiter
  • Experience working with reports and data analytics
  • Advanced knowledge of sourcing techniques, including proficiency in Boolean search
  • Knowledge of HR functions, methods, strategies, procedures and policies
  • Knowledge of labor laws and regulations
  • Knowledge of social media and advertising
  • Familiarity with HR databases and applicant tracking systems (ATS)
  • Effective time-management skills for handling multiple open roles simultaneously
  • Exceptional negotiation, persuasion and communication skills, particularly in recruiting emails and cold calls
  • Excellent organizational and decision-making abilities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build rapport with clients and candidates
  • Possess a high level of integrity and confidentiality

Headhunter Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or a relevant field
  • Holding a certification from a professional HR association, such as the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), is advantageous
