The Guest Guru serves as the vital first point of contact for all guests entering Cornbread. Being detail-oriented and service-focused, the role also involves understanding all menu items thoroughly to ensure the delivery of Cornbread's delicious products with efficiency and adherence to quality standards.
Another important aspect of the role is upholding high cleanliness and safety standards within the restaurant. As a Guest Guru, you demonstrate pride in your workplace by maintaining clean and safe environments, actively identifying and reporting any potential safety hazards or suspicious activities. Your responsibilities include general station setup and breakdown at shift changes, sanitation duties following COVID-19 safety protocols, and participating in routine deep cleans of the café. Restocking shelves, condiments, and utensils and maintaining the dining area during shifts are also crucial aspects of this role.
The ideal candidate will have excellent people skills, be trustworthy, reliable, and possess the physical ability to stand for long periods, lift over 30 pounds, and perform bending and reaching movements. A Food Handlers certificate or ServSafe equivalent is required within the first 30 days of employment. Candidates must be comfortable working both indoors and outdoors as the role requires spending time in temperature-controlled environments as well as outdoor areas and kitchen spaces.

Job Requirements
- People skills: dealing with the public and team proactively, professionally, and positively
- Able to be detail-oriented, focused on guest service, safety-minded, trustworthy, reliable, and efficient
- Food Handlers certificate within 30 days or ServSafe equivalent
- Ability to lift 30+ lbs, bend, stoop, reach, and push
- Ability to stand for long periods and climb steps
- Proficiency in technology, reading, and writing required
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors throughout the shift, Gurus spend 70% of the shift in a temperature-controlled environment and 20% in outdoor areas, the remaining 10% in kitchen, prep, or storage areas

- Record and accurately process purchases using the POS system, collect and process payments, and apply discounts according to Cornbread standards
- Complete required training in a timely manner
- Work cleanly and safely actively identifying any suspicious activity or safety hazards and escalating to restaurant leadership
- Perform general duties associated with setting up/breaking down areas and stations at the start or close of a shift
- Follow all COVID-19 protocols and meet cleanliness standards
- Clean coffee grinder, brewer, and espresso machines
- Organize products on our shelves and restock as necessary
- Work as a team to maintain the dining room, restock condiments and utensils, and provide upkeep on the restaurant area during the shift
- Complete opening and closing tasks and checklists
- Participate in weekly, monthly, and quarterly deep cleans of the cafe
