This role is a part-time position based in the Reno, NV store location, focused on planning, coordinating, and facilitating engaging events such as children’s birthday parties and craft classes. The Event Coordinator plays a critical role in delivering an exceptional customer experience by creating a fun and stress-free environment for guests of all ages, from young children to older adults. This position requires excellent people skills, creativity, and the ability to handle multiple events simultaneously while maintaining high standards of customer service and operational excellence. The coordinator will work closely with clients and store team members to ensure smooth execution of events while also supporting day-to-day retail operations such as truck unloading, stocking, merchandise recovery, and assisting customers on the sales floor. The hourly pay range for this role is $12.75 to $15.00, reflecting Michaels’ commitment to offering competitive compensation.

In this multifaceted position, the Event Coordinator will plan and manage events that include crafting activities, party add-ons such as balloons and goody bags, and interactive experiences like face painting. They will be responsible for communicating effectively with clients to customize events based on feedback and preferences while ensuring all company cleanliness and safety standards are upheld. Administrative duties such as responding to emails, making phone calls, and paperwork completion are also part of the role to ensure organizational effectiveness. Additionally, the coordinator will provide exceptional customer service by helping customers find products, educating them on promotions such as the Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards, and participating in checkout processes and store maintenance tasks.

Job Requirements

  • Previous experience in event coordination or related field preferred

Job Duties

  • Plan and coordinate multiple events at once including children’s birthday parties and other craft classes or events
  • Engage with clients of all ages by creating a fun and creative environment
  • Demonstrate and instruct party participants in craft projects and activities such as face painting
  • Facilitate and implement party add-ons like goody bags and balloons
  • Communicate events effectively with clients and store team members
  • Complete administrative tasks including emails, phone calls, and paperwork
  • Adjust event plans based on client feedback and create backup plans
  • Ensure client satisfaction for all scheduled events
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety standards by setting up, breaking down, and cleaning before and after events
  • Help customers shop and locate products
  • Provide fast and friendly checkout experience
  • Promote Rewards programs and Private Label Credit Cards
  • Educate customers on Voice of Customer survey
  • Assist with omnichannel services like BOPIS and Ship From Store
  • Participate in truck unloading and merchandise stocking
  • Complete merchandise recovery and store optimization duties
  • Support shrink and safety programs
  • Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures and company policies
  • Interact respectfully and positively with customers and team members
  • Cross trained in custom framing selling and production
  • Participate in daily store cleanliness activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned
