The Venue Events Production Manager at RSCVA holds a critical leadership position responsible for the seamless operation, maintenance, and technical reliability of all audio, video, lighting, staging, and technical systems across the three main facilities. This role includes overseeing event technical planning, equipment setup and strike, temporary power distribution, and coordination of client IT services to ensure flawless event execution. The manager supervises a skilled team comprising AV Technicians, Stagehands, and Riggers, fostering their development through continuous training and performance evaluations.

In addition to being the primary onsite technical liaison for events, the Venue Events Production Manager ensures compliance with all safety standards, including fall protection and rigging protocols. This role entails direct involvement as Event Manager during select productions and requires active collaboration with promoters and producers to advance all technical aspects in a timely manner. The position demands strategic oversight of labor reporting, billing, and back-of-house operational procedures critical to supporting large-scale events.

Candidates for this role should be prepared for a physically demanding, fast-paced work environment that requires extended hours around event schedules and the ability to adapt to varying environmental conditions and technical challenges. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in theatre or related field
  • Minimum 5 years' progressively responsible experience supervising stagehands in large venue or event settings
  • Experience with audio, video, lighting, staging, and technical production systems
  • Ability to manage and coordinate large teams
  • Familiarity with concert sound and lighting systems
  • Knowledge of safety codes, fall protection, and rigging procedures
  • Valid Nevada Driver's License
  • Ability to work extended hours and in various environmental conditions
  • Capacity to lift and move heavy equipment up to 100 pounds
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain certifications including PIT, MEWP, Rigging, and OSHA 30

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Theatre or equivalent experience supervising stagehands in arenas or special events venues
  • Knowledge of customer service and venue capacities and capabilities
  • Experience with video and audio equipment and related IT infrastructure
  • Familiarity with event production administration and management
  • Understanding of administration, organization, and supervision principles
  • Knowledge of budget and personnel management practices
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety and rigging procedures
  • Ability to obtain and maintain relevant certifications such as PIT, MEWP, Rigging, and OSHA 30
  • Basic knowledge of concert sound and theatrical lighting production methods
  • Awareness of public health and safety regulations in large venues
  • Proven management experience in special event and concert production
  • Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to build effective relationships with entertainment and cultural representatives
  • Skilled in recruiting and managing stagehands for production calls
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, AutoCAD, and Outlook

Job Duties

  • Maintain a competent and motivated workforce by hiring, training, developing, coaching, and evaluating employee performance
  • Act as the primary onsite technical contact for all events at RSCVA venues
  • Oversee setup and striking of equipment including bleachers, tables, chairs, stages, and risers
  • Supervise stagehands during load ins, events, and load outs
  • Serve as Event Manager during select events at the Reno Events Center
  • Assemble and distribute labor reports, receipts, and bills for event settlement
  • Create, maintain, and execute back-of-house procedures and operations
  • Advance the technical requirements of events with promoters and producers
  • Manage the hiring, training, supervision, and coordination of full-time and part-time stagehands and riggers
  • Maintain effective working relationships with entertainment and cultural organizations
  • Oversee all back-of-house safety, including fall protection and equipment compliance
  • Train team members on safe work methods and standards
  • Evaluate team member quality and efficiency and direct improvements
  • Implement best practices, policies, and procedures to ensure exceptional customer service
  • Uphold the RSCVA Safety Program and maintain a safe work environment
  • Demonstrate positive interpersonal relations and cooperation
  • Enforce attendance and punctuality policies
  • Utilize time and resources effectively
  • Adhere to all RSCVA policies governing workplace conduct
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested
