The role of Kitchen Expediter at InterContinental Hotels & Resorts plays a critical part in ensuring that guests receive prompt, accurate, and carefully presented meals. This position focuses on bridging the kitchen and guest service by expediting food orders from the kitchen line to the guest tables efficiently and courteously. The Kitchen Expediter is responsible for organizing and setting up the kitchen line for every meal, guaranteeing that all food production areas are maintained according to the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and organization. A Kitchen Expediter’s work demands excellent communication skills to effectively coordinate with various departments including catering, banquets, food outlets, and guest services. In addition to facilitating food delivery, this role supports wait staff by assisting with service tasks, such as bussing tables, polishing glassware and silverware, and preparing garnishes like lemons and limes. Candidates must be physically able to carry or lift items up to 50 pounds and maintain stamina for continuous standing, bending, and stooping throughout their shift. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and preferably some prior food service experience. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Some prior food service experience preferred
- Ability to carry or lift items weighing up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand and move about kitchen, outlet, or other designated areas
- Handling food, objects, products, chemicals, cleaning supplies and utensils
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel
- Effective communication with others including listening and following up on guest requests
- Alcohol awareness certification and/or food service permit or valid health/food handler card as required by local or state agency
- Willingness to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays

Job Duties
- Maintain all assigned food production service areas in an orderly manner in compliance with sanitation and health regulations
- Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments including catering, banquets, outlets, and guest services
- Deliver food from kitchen to guests table, placing food in proper position and announcing food when required
- Assist the wait staff in the service of food in accordance with established standards
- Set up station in the kitchen for every meal
- Pre-bus tables to prepare for new guests
- Polish glassware and silverware to maintain presentation standards
- Assist servers by bussing tables and pouring drinks as needed
- Maintain outside patio, including removal of heaters and replacement of propane tanks
- Keep coolers and storage areas orderly and clean
- Assist with unloading inventory as needed
- Maintain cleanliness of expo lines
- Assist in table setup and cleaning when required
- Swap plates per service along with condiments and garnishes
- Prepare limes, lemons, and other food items used by servers
- Assist with welcoming, greeting, and seating guests as necessary
- Count and exchange soiled linen
- Perform polishing of glassware and silverware as required
