This particular opportunity is for the role of Events Manager at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center located in the Greater Pittsburgh area. The Events Manager plays a crucial role in the overall success of events by ensuring smooth coordination, flawless execution, and client satisfaction throughout the event lifecycle. The Events Manager acts as the primary liaison between clients and internal departments, ensuring that every detail from event setup to breakdown is meticulously handled. The position demands flexibility with working hours including long shifts, weekends, nights, and holidays depending on event schedules.

The Events Manager responsibilities encompass event coordination, administration, internal communications, and on-site management. Duties include advising and guiding clients on event logistics, organizing all event requirements, responding to inquiries, coordinating with various departments, and ensuring compliance with facility policies. The ideal candidate should have experience working with unions such as audio-visual teams, stagehands, production staff, and setup crews. Effective management of competing priorities, strong leadership capability, and excellent communication and organizational skills are key. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in hospitality, event planning, sports management or related field
  • Minimum two years experience in event operation and execution of large conventions or trade shows

  • Ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities
  • Physical ability to stand for up to 2 hours and walk up to 10 miles during events

Job Duties

  • Advise, guide, counsel and meet with assigned clients regarding event details and logistics
  • Gather and organize event information such as agenda, room requirements, labor, electrical, and security needs
  • Respond to client inquiries or direct them to appropriate internal departments
  • Advise clients and service partners on operational procedures, policies, rules, and deadlines
  • Quote prices for operational and labor services not specified in agreements
  • Provide clear and timely communication of requirements to operational departments
  • Process last-minute changes requested by clients and alert necessary parties
  • Be present during event execution and serve as manager on duty
  • Coordinate with finance on invoicing of events
