Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum two years of related work experience in food service or nutrition
  • Current and valid food handler certification
  • Completion of ServSafe or equivalent sanitation certification and maintain certification throughout employment
  • Ability to operate commercial kitchen equipment safely
  • Physical ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work in varying temperature conditions and manage exposure to cleaning chemicals
  • Must adhere to professional standards of dress and hygiene
  • Ability to travel to different school locations as needed
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with student data
  • Effective communication skills in English
  • Basic math competency
  • Must complete Manager Training Program within the required timeframe
  • Compliance with school nutrition policies, federal and state regulations

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
  • Minimum two years related experience
  • Ability to follow written food menus, recipes, and schedules
  • Current food handler certification from the Bell County Health Department or certified online course
  • Successful completion and maintenance of ServSafe or comparable sanitation certification
  • Ability to operate large and small kitchen equipment including slicers, mixers, ovens, and dishwashers
  • Professional standard of appearance and hygiene
  • Effective communication skills in English
  • Basic mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and prepare correspondence
  • Strong reasoning skills to address workplace problems
  • Ability to promote customer service and motivate staff

Job Duties

  • Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in preparing food, serving meals, and cleaning kitchen and dining areas
  • Provides cleaning schedules and ensures cafeteria cleanliness during and after meals
  • Assists in coaching, counseling, and training employees to improve performance
  • Maintains sanitation and safety practices in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
  • Utilizes PrimeroEdge software to manage food orders, inventory, and financial reporting
  • Oversees food preparation according to standardized recipes and batch cooking procedures
  • Trains staff in positive customer service behaviors and promotes nutrition education
  • Manages special diets for students with allergies according to federal guidelines
  • Conducts preventative maintenance checks and follows safety protocols
  • Supervises cashier functions and ensures accurate meal recording
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities including training, performance appraisal, and conflict resolution
