Account Manager Duties & Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact, addressing client concerns and needs promptly
- Maintain accurate client records, overseeing contract updates and ensuring timely renewals
- Monitor client budgets, explain costs and negotiate terms as necessary
- Ensure the successful delivery of solutions according to customer needs and objectives
- Keep current clients satisfied, monitor product usage and work with the sales team to onboard new clients
- Develop an in-depth understanding of products and services for effective upselling and cross-selling
- Develop new business by analyzing account potential, initiating and closing sales and recommending strategies
- Collaborate with sales and internal teams to achieve key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Conduct regular team meetings to discuss progress and explore avenues for improvement
- Forecast and track key account metrics, preparing detailed account status reports
- Teach junior employees how to service accounts
- Attend trade shows and other industry events to capitalize on networking and relationship-building opportunities
Account Manager Experience Requirements & Skills
- Proven work experience as an Account Manager or related roles
- Proven track record of meeting or surpassing quotas
- Understanding of consumer behaviors and industry trends
- Knowledge of website development, marketing, analytics, content management and digital marketing
- Proficient in common customer success and relationship management software like Gainsight and Salesforce
- Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and influence stakeholders at various organizational levels
- Effective problem-solving skills for resolving customer complaints and addressing needs
- Ability to collect, track and analyze large amounts of data
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Account Manager Education & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sales or a relevant field
- Holding Customer Success certifications is a plus
