Sonoma County Indian Health Project, Inc. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- six months experience as receptionist or clerk, preferably in the medical setting
- pass a pre-employment drug screen
- pass a physical examination
- pass SCIHP background investigation
- sensitivity to the needs of the Native American community
- respect for cultural heritage, traditions, and historical context of the Native American community
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- six months experience as receptionist or clerk, preferably in a medical setting
- excellent communication and customer service skills
- proficiency with Electronic Health Record systems
- ability to handle multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment
- motivated and compassionate individual
- basic interviewing skills
- ability to maintain patient and employee confidentiality
- teamwork and collaboration skills
Job Duties
- Receives all scheduled medical patients
- greets them in a courteous and helpful manner
- checks patients in using the Electronic Health Record
- answers all incoming calls and directs them to appropriate individuals or departments
- anticipates patient anxieties, answers patients’ questions, maintains reception area workflow, and informs patients of delays or waiting times
- gathers information through basic interviewing skills, explains policies, clarifies information, and maintains confidentiality
- coordinates with Patient Service Specialist for gathering information and referring non-funded patients for assistance
- demonstrates excellent teamwork by helping with workload
- performs other duties as assigned
