This position is a full-time, non-management role located at 1567 Broadway in New York City, offering an hourly pay range of $29.90 to $39.87. The role is essential in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall aesthetic of both public and employee spaces to ensure a superior guest experience. The Housekeeping & Laundry department requires diligent, detail-oriented individuals who can contribute to upholding the high standards that W Hotels are known for.
The role of a Housekeeping team member focuses on maintaining cleanliness and order in designated areas including public and employee restrooms, shower areas, and other guest-accessible spaces. Responsibilities include cleaning glass surfaces, dusting, trash removal, and logging maintenance issues. Safety is paramount, and this position requires adherence to company safety protocols, including proper storage of materials and posting caution signs when necessary. The ability to work well independently as well as part of a team is critical, along with providing excellent service by promptly responding to guest and departmental requests.
Physical demands of the job involve lifting, carrying, and moving objects weighing up to 55 pounds independently, with assistance for items over that weight, along with maneuvering equipment across various surfaces. The job also requires reaching, bending, twisting, and standing for extended periods, making physical stamina and the ability to navigate confined or elevated spaces important qualities for the successful candidate. Job Duties
- Clean public and employee restrooms and showers
- clean glass in public and employee areas
- clean floor surfaces in public or employee spaces using designated chemicals, supplies, and equipment
- dust surfaces in assigned area
- empty trash containers, ashtrays, and ash urns in public areas into proper containers
- inspect condition of furniture for tears, rips, and stains and report damages
- clean and maintain lights
- post caution signs to limit traffic when necessary
- contact other departments directly for urgent repairs
- respond promptly to requests from guests and other departments
- identify and report preventative or other maintenance issues in public areas or guest rooms
- follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures
- report any maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries
- complete safety training and certifications
- properly store flammable materials
- ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional
- maintain confidentiality of proprietary information
- welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards
