Job Description
The Migrant Head Start program is a dedicated initiative focused on providing full-day, full-year educational and developmental services to children aged 0-5 years from migrant and seasonal farm and agriculture working families. These families often engage in hand-picked and row crop labor, representing some of the most vital yet underserved communities in the agricultural landscape. Job Requirements
- Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education
- Six months experience teaching preschool aged children
- Compliance with state and federal early childhood education regulations
- Basic keyboard skills and computer literacy
- Ability to actively supervise children at all times
- Preferred bilingual Spanish/English
- Preferred experience with early childhood screening and assessment tools
- Preferred experience working with culturally diverse and low-income families
Job Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education
- Bachelor's degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education preferred
- Coursework equivalent to a major relating to Early Childhood Education in related fields
- Six months of experience teaching preschool aged children
- Experience with Ages and Stages Questionnaire screening and other early childhood assessment tools preferred
- Bilingual Spanish/English preferred
- Experience working with culturally diverse and low-income families preferred
- Basic keyboard and computer software skills including Microsoft Office and Adobe
Job Duties
- Promote school readiness by preparing children and families for school and life success
- Provide high quality developmentally appropriate care and education for children age 3-5 in a center-based classroom
- Work as part of a center based interdisciplinary team supporting child development in all areas
- Provide education, disabilities, health, and social service support to families
- Abide by all applicable state and federal regulations including Head Start Program Performance Standards and Arizona Department of Health Services guidelines
- Actively supervise children by sight and sound at all times in all environments
- Maintain health and safety regulations to create an optimum learning environment
- Facilitate health practices to keep children safe during school bus rides, and indoor and outdoor activities
