Job Requirements

  • Ability to work independently and as a team member without continuous supervision
  • Must be able to interpret and respond to verbal and written instructions
  • Must communicate effectively by phone and verbally
  • Ability to read and understand material safety data sheets and instructions for cleaning chemicals use
  • Must complete onboarding in a timely manner or risk job offer rescindment
  • Willingness to undergo background check and drug screening
  • Must receive annual flu vaccine unless exempted
  • Physical ability to perform fast-paced, physical cleaning tasks including walking and pushing cleaning carts
  • Willingness to work evening shifts, weekends, and holidays with shift availability subject to change

Job Qualifications

  • Previous related experience is preferred
  • Familiarity with environmental services equipment and cleaning techniques preferred
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Effective communication skills both verbal and written
  • Ability to interpret and respond to verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to read and understand material safety data sheets
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Additional related education or experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Perform a variety of assigned cleaning tasks including dusting, mopping, scrubbing, disinfecting, vacuuming and polishing according to departmental policies and procedures
  • Plan and complete daily cleaning assignments effectively
  • Empty hampers and transport soiled linen
  • Empty trash containers including all medical waste containers such as sharps
  • Inventory, restock and replenish supplies like toilet tissue, paper towels, and hand soap in assigned areas
  • Maintain cleanliness and proper functioning of departmental equipment
  • Notify appropriate personnel for equipment repairs
  • Perform special projects such as window washing, wall washing, and removing heavily soiled items or furnishings
  • Respond to questions and requests from patients, staff, and visitors while achieving high customer service satisfaction
  • Work under regular supervision at an assigned facility or area, collaborating with internal and external customers
  • Follow safety protocols when handling cleaning chemicals and bodily fluids
