Job Requirements
- Minimum of 1-year full service restaurant experience or the equivalent
- accurate mathematic skills
- knowledge of menu and specials
- understanding of restaurant layout including table numbers and station numbers
- punctuality in meeting personal schedule requirements
- warm, sincere, outgoing personality
- physical stamina to stand for long periods while on duty
- ability to move safely throughout all areas of the restaurant
- capacity to work amidst noise in confined crowded spaces
- ability to move chairs and transport high chairs or booster seats to tables when necessary
- willingness to work nights, weekends and holidays

Job Duties
- Determine proper amount of reservations to be accepted for each shift according to standing operating procedure
- take all reservation calls and record necessary information
- confirm applicable reservations according to standing operating procedure
- seat the restaurant evenly and in an orderly manner so that the dining room looks well filled at all times and so that all servers have a fair share of the guests
- maintain an accurate head count of guests seated in each station
- fill out completely all sections of a telephone message pad and pass on to the appropriate person within 10 minutes of the call
- check washrooms and coordinate with bus staff cleaning requirements
- ensure that host desk and waiting area are kept clean and organized throughout the shift
- sell and accurately account for gift certificate sales
- move tables as needed for larger or smaller parties
- relate to guests pleasantly and with good humor
- communicate effectively with guests
- accurately quote wait time within 5 minutes when restaurant is on a wait
- efficiently assign tables appropriate for parties being seated
- accurately fill out and maintain host/hostess control sheet
- anticipate needs of scheduled special parties
- communicate seating needs to service, bus and other host staff
- cordially inform the guest about where to wait and how wait system works
