Photographer Duties & Responsibilities

  • Communicate with clients to schedule photoshoots
  • Collaborate with the Art Director to determine the necessary images
  • Recommend creative ideas to exceed goals
  • Set up photographic equipment for shoots
  • Arrange objects, scenes, lighting and background based on specifications
  • Maintain photography equipment such as cameras, computers and tripods
  • Act as director during photoshoots
  • Take professional photos in a studio or on location
  • Utilize photo manipulation software for desired results
  • Submit completed photos to relevant parties
  • Maintain a database of archived images
  • Assign photos to appropriate product categories using keyword tags
  • Maintain relationships with clients, team members and collaborators
  • Oversee brand standards, lighting techniques and image quality
  • Conduct reshoots if necessary
  • Understand and adhere to copyright laws, licensing agreements and other legal aspects related to photography
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment

Photographer Experience Requirements & Skills

  • Proven experience as a photographer in a competitive industry
  • Knowledge of diverse photography techniques
  • Proficient in using different camera equipment
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom, Adobe Sketch, Sketchbook or similar programs
  • Strong creative presence and artistic flair
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
  • Ability to stand or crouch for extended periods during photoshoots
  • Ability to direct and supervise other photographers
  • Capability to follow instructions clearly to achieve desired outcomes
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks
  • Flexibility to work varying hours to accommodate client schedules
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, project management and critical thinking skills

Photographer Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Photography, Fine Arts or a related field
  • A portfolio showcasing work is a must
