Job Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- high school diploma or GED equivalent
- compliance with ORR vaccination mandate including proof of immunity
- ability to work 2nd shift 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm
- ability to work extended or 12-hour shifts including during periods of influx
- physical ability to lift, push, or move up to 50 lbs
- frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and reaching
- ability to establish trust and positive rapport with children
- ability to remain calm and use good judgment in stressful situations
- ability to use auditory and visual awareness in work environment
- ability to follow written and oral instructions
- ability to provide basic computer documentation and data entry
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- must be at least 21 years of age
- bilingual in English and Spanish based on service area and population
- minimum 1 year employment experience in child welfare working with children or adolescents
- prior full-time experience preferably with youth or adolescents
- ability to use conflict resolution and de-escalation skills
- strong verbal communication skills
- ability to organize and prioritize duties
- ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- proficiency with basic computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel
- preferred associates degree in Social Services or related field
- preferred 2 years experience providing direct care to children and adolescents
Job Duties
- Conduct intake services for unaccompanied children including paperwork, assessment, and orientation
- provide basic needs such as meals, clothing, hygiene, and supervision of daily routines
- perform behavior management, oversee therapeutic activities, and conduct crisis intervention
- supervise children and set behavior limits according to individual treatment and ORR standards
- provide 1:1 monitoring during medical or behavioral needs as directed
- maintain cleanliness and safety of living spaces
- observe and report child behaviors to update treatment plans
- conduct regular 15-minute headcounts
- perform other duties as assigned
- follow individual behavior support plans and document interactions
- complete proper forms and progress notes complying with regulatory standards
- administer Therapeutic Crisis Intervention as needed
- assist children with social skills, anger management, and daily living skills
- support unit management as a point of contact when needed
- assist with bathing, feeding, cleaning, and laundry
- plan and implement social and recreational activities
- accompany children on outings and provide transportation
- report safety hazards
- assist in emergency evacuations
- develop positive relationships with staff, children, and volunteers
- collaborate with treatment teams to meet program goals
- participate in group therapy sessions
- build positive rapport with children
- exhibit cultural sensitivity and professional behavior in alignment with agency ethics
