Job Requirements

  • Flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • customer service background desirable but not required
  • typing skills required
  • some computer knowledge required including Word and communication tools
  • significant experience with basic office functions
  • ability to learn veterinary terminology quickly
  • perform basic computer tasks including typing 30 words per minute
  • physical ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs
  • able to sit and stand for extended periods
  • willing to work in conditions with exposure to odors, noises and animal waste
  • ability to maintain professionalism and positive attitude
  • able to handle stressful client interactions
  • work as part of a team

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • customer service background desirable but not required
  • typing skills required
  • some computer knowledge required including comfort with Word, keyboarding, Instant Messenger and email
  • experience with basic office functions in a busy office environment
  • previous receptionist or veterinary practice experience desirable
  • ability to pronounce and spell commonly used veterinary terms
  • ability to type 30 words per minute
  • good computer accuracy and attention to detail
  • strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • ability to work cooperatively with team members
  • genuine liking for animals and their owners

Job Duties

  • Answer telephones and greet clients
  • Prepare and manage patient files
  • Escort clients and patients to exam rooms
  • Receive and relay client correspondence
  • Update client financial records accurately
  • Diffuse negative client situations
  • Foster client bonding and positive interactions
