Job Qualifications
- Demonstrated commitment to core values
- Computer knowledge including keyboarding and use of communication tools such as email and internet
- Working knowledge of veterinary terminology including pronunciation and spelling
- Excellent spelling and grammar skills
- Ability to handle varied and sometimes difficult conditions including highly emotional situations
- Ability to display tact and respect with clients and team members even in busy or hectic conditions
- Ability to conduct oneself in a confident, calm, and professional manner during stressful situations
- Genuine liking for animals and their owners and interest in working in animal care field
Job Duties
- Maintain and uphold the core values and mission statement of the hospital
- Greet clients and pets by name with a smile and a positive, solution-oriented attitude
- Answer phones promptly and professionally using a multi-line phone system
- Screen and route calls to appropriate staff and take and deliver messages promptly
- Schedule appointments and surgeries according to hospital scheduling guidelines and make confirmation calls
- Note details discussed during client conversations in medical records accurately
- Enter accurate charges and explain invoices showing value for care provided
- Collect payments including cash, credit cards, and checks with proper ID verification
- Verify eligibility of clients with charge accounts
- Check and update client contact information and medical records
- Fill prescription refill forms and provide routine administration instructions to clients
- Advise clients on preventive care products and retail items
