Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a customer service or receptionist role preferred
  • Basic computer literacy required
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Familiarity with veterinary terminology is a plus
  • Must be able to handle emotional situations with professionalism
  • Willingness to work full-time (30+ hours per week) at the Waunakee location

  • Computer knowledge including keyboarding and use of communication tools (email/internet)
  • Working knowledge of veterinary terminology with correct pronunciation, spelling, and understanding
  • Excellent spelling and grammar skills
  • Ability to handle varied and sometimes difficult situations including highly emotional scenarios
  • Ability to display tact and respect with clients and team members
  • Ability to maintain calm and professional demeanor under stress
  • Genuine liking for animals and their owners and enthusiasm for working in animal care

Job Duties

  • Maintain and uphold the core values and mission statement of MVP
  • Greet clients and pets by name with a smile and a positive, solution-oriented attitude
  • Answer phones promptly and professionally using a multi-line phone system
  • Schedule appointments and surgeries according to hospital scheduling guidelines and provide confirmation calls
  • Enter accurate charges and explain invoices to clients
  • Collect payment including cash, credit card, and checks
  • Verify eligibility of clients with charge accounts
  • Check medical and computer records for accuracy and scan new documents to patient records
  • Fill prescription refill forms and provide routine administration instructions
  • Advise clients on preventive care such as flea/tick and heartworm preventatives
  • Note details discussed during client conversations in medical records
