Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a customer service or receptionist role preferred
- Basic computer literacy required
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure
- Familiarity with veterinary terminology is a plus
- Must be able to handle emotional situations with professionalism
- Willingness to work full-time (30+ hours per week) at the Waunakee location
Job Qualifications
- Demonstrated commitment to MVP core values
- Computer knowledge including keyboarding and use of communication tools (email/internet)
- Working knowledge of veterinary terminology with correct pronunciation, spelling, and understanding
- Excellent spelling and grammar skills
- Ability to handle varied and sometimes difficult situations including highly emotional scenarios
- Ability to display tact and respect with clients and team members
- Ability to maintain calm and professional demeanor under stress
- Genuine liking for animals and their owners and enthusiasm for working in animal care
Job Duties
- Maintain and uphold the core values and mission statement of MVP
- Greet clients and pets by name with a smile and a positive, solution-oriented attitude
- Answer phones promptly and professionally using a multi-line phone system
- Schedule appointments and surgeries according to hospital scheduling guidelines and provide confirmation calls
- Enter accurate charges and explain invoices to clients
- Collect payment including cash, credit card, and checks
- Verify eligibility of clients with charge accounts
- Check medical and computer records for accuracy and scan new documents to patient records
- Fill prescription refill forms and provide routine administration instructions
- Advise clients on preventive care such as flea/tick and heartworm preventatives
- Note details discussed during client conversations in medical records
