Job Requirements
- must possess valid Texas driver's license or obtain it no later than 90 days after hire date
- applicants with an out-of-state driver's license must provide an original certified driving record from the state of licensure
- eligible driving record required based on HHSC Fleet Management policy
- Texas Department of Public Safety Commercial Driver's License preferred
- Food Handlers certification is preferred
- completion of Defensive Driving class is required
- prior work experience operating a motor vehicle with multiple passengers and/or transporting cargo
- graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent is preferred
- experience in driving a light and/or medium delivery truck is preferred
- paid or unpaid experience in food service work is preferred
- one year experience operating a motor vehicle in a commercial environment is preferred
Job Qualifications
- graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent is preferred
- prior work experience operating a motor vehicle with multiple passengers and/or transporting cargo is required, six months is preferred
- experience in driving a light and/or medium delivery truck is preferred
- paid or unpaid experience in food service work is preferred
- one year experience operating a motor vehicle in a commercial environment is preferred
- ability to tell time and work on a schedule
- ability to understand and comply with written and oral instructions
- ability to manage time and follow scheduled routes
- ability to communicate with others in a cooperative and positive manner
- ability to work in a physically challenging environment and tolerate cold and hot weather
- ability to read, write, and comprehend the English language
- able to repeatedly lift 45 pounds
- ability to do basic math computations
- ability to accurately backup trailers
- ability to successfully complete all Safe Use of Restraints and Ukeru training as prescribed by Texas Health and Human Services
Job Duties
- operate motor vehicles such as vans and trucks and trailers and transport passengers, cargo, and food carts
- deliver food, supplemental formulas, and beverages to dormitories, homes, and units on a predetermined schedule or as needed, and pick up carts after each meal
- store and make frozen food breakouts to meet weekly requirements of food items for menu
- restock dining rooms with cleaning materials, utensils, and other supplies
- check vehicle and trailer at beginning of work shift for proper operation and cleanliness and report major problems
- prepare and maintain records and logs related to vehicle operations and breakouts
- perform basic vehicle maintenance, make minor repairs, and fuel vehicles
- secure and protect cargo and food carts
- assist in the safe loading and unloading of passengers and cargo
- operate vehicle power lift gates, manual hydraulic forklifts, and dollies
- assist in performing warehouse and food server work including cooking, food handling, and serving
