Job Description

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is a vital state agency dedicated to improving the health, safety, and well-being of Texans. Job Requirements

  • must possess valid Texas driver’s license or obtain within 90 days
  • provide certified driving record if license is from out of state
  • eligible driving record per HHSC Fleet Management policy
  • pass fingerprint criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen
  • pass registry checks including Client Abuse/Neglect Reporting System and Employee Misconduct lists
  • males aged 18-25 must be registered with Selective Service
  • able to work overtime, holidays, and flexible shifts
  • must be at least 18 years of age
  • comply with state and agency telework policies although position is not eligible for telework

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • prior experience operating motor vehicles with passengers or cargo preferred
  • valid Texas driver’s license or ability to obtain within 90 days
  • knowledge of traffic safety regulations
  • ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively
  • skill maneuvering large vehicles safely
  • physical ability to handle lifting and extended periods of standing
  • willingness to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays

Job Duties

  • operate motor vehicles to transport passengers and cargo including food carts
  • attend work regularly and adhere to assigned shift schedules including overtime and weekends
  • prepare and maintain vehicle operation records and logs
  • perform basic vehicle maintenance such as fueling and minor repairs
  • ensure cargo and food carts are securely loaded and distributed to avoid overloading
  • comply with state and local traffic laws and safety regulations
  • assist with food service and warehouse duties as needed
