Job Requirements
- Electrical experience in the underground mining industry preferred
- demonstrated ability to maintain or exceed industry best practices
- flexible to adapt to improved procedures
- awareness of MSHA Act and Regulations
- willingness to work a 3 weeks on, 3 weeks off rotational schedule
- able to work extended hours up to 12 hours or more per day
- capable to work in extreme and changing weather conditions, dust, mud, noise, varying light levels, and confined spaces
- willingness to stay on site at company-provided camp
- good physical health to pass post-offer physical
- authorisation to work in the U.S.
Job Qualifications
- Minimum 7 years electrical experience
- qualify for Level 5 of the Underground Electrician technical criteria
- proficient in prioritising work
- demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills
- ability to manage a small team of electricians
- competent in liaising with other departments
- willingness and ability to relieve in Supervisor position
- ability to read and interpret technical manuals and specifications
- computer literate in Microsoft Office, Pronto or similar CMMS
- good communication skills
- ability to problem-solve and manage conflicting priorities
- current driver’s license
- able to pass a background check and post-offer physical
Job Duties
- Coordinate the daily management, control and supervision of underground electrical operations in compliance with MSHA Act and Regulations
- undertake diagnostic, breakdown, repairs, follow-up work and preventive maintenance of electrical infrastructure, dewatering infrastructure and telemetry
- attend daily pre-start meetings to ensure effective communication and handovers
- maintain high standard of housekeeping and hold team accountable
- rigorously manage costs to avoid rework and unnecessary use of parts or services
- provide technical advice and support to electrical team members
- ensure workmanship meets standards and perform equipment testing prior to handover
- attend weekly scheduling and planning meetings
- plan jobs effectively gathering materials and directing team to complete tasks safely and timely
- ensure installation of underground electrical reticulation and infrastructure meets high standards with complete testing and documentation
- conduct daily handovers with incoming and outgoing Leading Hand
- liaise with Electrical Supervisor on planned work and updates during shifts
- host daily line-out and 5-STARR meetings
- coordinate with Underground Shift Supervisors on machine breakdowns, outages and shift plans
- delegate unplanned work
- create work orders and generate pick slips as required
- review documentation before submission
- record and report equipment downtime
- develop succession plans within the team
- ensure all safety activities are completed according to company policy
- complete monthly scheduled compliance work
- perform other duties as required
