Job Requirements
- Must possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License
- Must have previous tractor-trailer driving experience with 48' to 57' dry vans or 42' tanks to be accepted for training
- Must be able to read and write in English and perform simple mathematical calculations
- Must have working knowledge of vehicle safety and control systems
- Must understand DOT and State regulations for safe driving, inspection, and hazardous materials transport
- Must be available for around-the-clock trips and extended periods away from home
- Must meet and maintain U.S. Department of Transportation medical standards
- Must pass drug test and be subject to random alcohol and drug testing
- Must be able to sit and remain alert for long periods while driving
- Must be able to shift manual transmission and operate foot pedals
- Must be able to perform occasional squatting, crouching, bending, twisting, climbing, and balancing
- Must be able to hook and unhook vehicle combinations and operate related equipment
- Must be able to carry freight weighing up to 50 pounds and push or pull freight up to 2000 pounds
- Must be able to install and remove tire chains
- Must be able to work in various weather conditions and irregular schedules
- Must be able to operate electronic log-in devices
- Must be punctual and maintain regular attendance
Job Qualifications
- Possess valid Commercial Driver’s License
- Previous tractor-trailer driving experience with dry vans or tankers
- Ability to read and write in English and perform simple math
- Knowledge of operating and controlling vehicle safety systems
- Understanding of DOT and State driving regulations
- Familiarity with hours of service inspection and hazardous materials transportation
- Ability to operate electronic logging devices
- Strong professional driving skills and responsibility
- Ability to handle physical demands of loading, unloading, and vehicle maintenance
Job Duties
- Safe and efficient transport and delivery of freight by operating tractor-trailer combinations
- Hook and unhook trailers from the tractor or converter dollies, including adjusting landing gear
- Load and unload trailers with or without mechanical freight-handling equipment
- Perform fueling tasks
- Lift, pull, push, and carry freight as needed
- Inspect tractor, trailer, and equipment before and after trips, submitting reports via AOBRD
- Check shipping papers and verify cargo loading and securing
- Install and remove tire chains as required by weather
- Drive trucks following Federal and State regulations on driving hours
- Maneuver vehicle skillfully in difficult conditions including heavy traffic and tight docks
- Ensure all necessary documentation accompanies shipments and is processed for billing
- Maintain driver logs, fuel purchase records, and other compliance documentation
- Follow company policies and comply with all safety regulations
- Report all accidents, delays, and safety hazards promptly
- Maintain punctuality and regular attendance
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
