Job Requirements

  • High school or GED preferred
  • experience in the entertainment, tourism, and/or hospitality industry a plus
  • previous experience in senior service profession preferred
  • current Washington driver’s license with a good driving record
  • must have a passion for working with seniors
  • ability to develop, plan and organize
  • requires flexibility
  • varied work schedule and hours
  • exhibit enthusiasm, self-confidence, professionalism, tact and courtesy when interacting with residents, family members and staff
  • familiarity with the Microsoft office suite computer programs
  • ability to learn and operate audio-visual equipment
  • must be resourceful and possess good time management skills
  • must have advanced initiative and creativity skills
  • current CPR and First Aid Certification and HIV/AIDS training or the ability to obtain within 30 days of employment
  • ability to maintain confidentiality
  • regular, dependable and reliable attendance
  • excellent English communications skills both verbal and written

Job Duties

  • Creates new programs, events, and trips to meet residents changing needs and requests
  • plans, organizes, and coordinates independent living resident recreational events, programs and trips
  • supports residents in developing interest groups and resident-led activities, empowering residents to self-manage ongoing scheduling and coordination
  • coordinates trip and event transportation needs with Transportation Coordinator
  • may occasionally drive a company vehicle for a trip when needed
  • leads events and trips with residents or coordinates with team for an appropriate substitute leader
  • serves as the staff liaison for assigned resident committees, including the Trips and Events Committee
  • provides organization and support for resident suggested future trips and events
  • under the guidance of the Wellness Programs Manager, coordinates and works with Communications Specialist for the proper marketing and publication of event and trip announcements utilizing avenues such as the Resident Portal, TV Screens, Newsletters, and Announcements
  • presents materials in a timely manner for the monthly newsletter and calendar and ensures accuracy of the daily schedule and portal for trips, events, and activities
  • provides proofing and triage support to the Communications Specialist
  • ensures events, programs and trips are well attended by residents
  • documents and records resident attendance to trips and events in database
  • ensures all room bookings for in-house events are coordinated with other departments, for the efficient usage and set up of common spaces
  • researches and maintains a list of local community resources to help the event planning process
  • must be knowledgeable of emergency procedures and respond appropriately to support residents in an emergency situation
  • evaluates and informs the Wellness Programs Manger on the effectiveness of individual programs and trips
  • informs Director of Resident Services of changes in attending resident behavior, physical abilities and emotional stability as it relates to the safely of residents observed during trips and events
  • recognizes or creates opportunities to capture photos and/or videos of resident engagement to be used for internal or external marketing
  • adjusts work schedule to lead trips and events on evenings and weekends
  • other job duties as assigned
