- active registered nurse (RN) license in New York State
- BLS certification (American Heart Association)
- minimum 2 years of recent psychiatric nursing experience

Job Duties
- perform comprehensive intake assessments through interviews with patients and family to gather psychiatric history and baseline data
- plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for adult psychiatric patients on an inpatient unit
- conduct nursing diagnoses of medical and emotional status and recommend appropriate treatment options
- collaborate with psychiatrists, social workers, and behavioral health staff to develop and update individualized treatment plans
- administer and monitor responses to psychotropic medications and other prescribed treatments
- coordinate referrals and arrange additional medical attention when indicated
- support patient education about emotional disturbances, treatment goals, and medication adherence
- maintain a safe, therapeutic, and secure environment for staff and patients, including crisis intervention and de-escalation when needed
- assess and manage patient pain and psychiatric symptoms, ensuring appropriate interventions
- accurately document all patient information, follow physician orders, and maintain confidentiality of medical records
- complete necessary administrative tasks such as progress notes, unit communications, and coordination of care
- provide courteous, culturally sensitive, high-quality service to patients, families, and the public
