Job Requirements
- Completion of a nursing education program approved by a board of nursing
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license with South Dakota Board of Nursing
- Minimum two years Labor and Delivery experience
- BLS and NRP certifications
- Flexibility to work 12-hour shifts including variable day/night rotations and weekend coverage
- Manager approval required for candidates lacking EPIC experience or Level 3 Labor and Delivery competency
- Ability to care for couplets (mother and infant units)
- Competency in IV starts, cervical checks, phlebotomy, magnesium sulfate, blood administration, insulin, cesarean section assistance, and postoperative care
- Willingness to work postpartum/couplet care
- Must pass a comprehensive orientation and preceptorship
- Reliable transportation and professional conduct
- Ability to work holidays and nights as needed
Job Qualifications
- Completion of a nursing education program approved by a board of nursing
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) with the South Dakota Board of Nursing
- Minimum of two years Labor and Delivery nursing experience, preferably in a Level 3 or higher NICU environment
- BLS and NRP certifications required
- ACLS, inpatient obstetrics certification, electronic fetal monitoring, or inpatient antepartum certifications preferred
- Experience with EPIC charting preferred
- Ability to manage high acuity labor patients including preeclampsia, preterm labor, and antepartum patients under 35 weeks gestation
Job Duties
- Provide hands-on care to laboring and postpartum patients including high-risk cases
- Monitor fetal status using electronic fetal monitoring systems
- Perform IV starts, cervical checks, and phlebotomy as needed
- Administer medications such as magnesium sulfate, insulin, and blood products
- Circulate during cesarean sections and assist with recovery care
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including OB physicians, anesthesia providers, and support staff
- Utilize EPIC charting system for accurate patient documentation
