Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of CA Class B License with passenger endorsement and current medical certificate
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire
- Two to three years of related healthcare or paratransit experience
- Excellent driving record (minimum two years without violation)
- Ability to use proper body mechanics when assisting patients
- Good human relations and communication skills
- Ability to respond promptly to requests and problems
- Ability to perform physical tasks like walking, bending, and squatting
- Ability to drive for extended periods
Job Qualifications
- Two to three years of related experience in healthcare or paratransit environment
- Excellent driving record with minimum two years without violations
- Knowledge of proper body mechanics for assisting patients
- Good human relations skills and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Basic knowledge of common medical procedures preferred
- Ability to use calculator and compute figures accurately
- Ability to walk varying surfaces and distances
- Ability to perform extended driving and physical tasks such as bending and squatting
- High school diploma or GED
Job Duties
- Maintains a safe, clean working environment including unit-based safety and infection control requirements
- Completes patient transportation schedule and prepares appropriate routes prior to departure
- Assists patients and other passengers in entering and exiting the vehicle
- Ensures securing of vehicle doors, wheelchair and passenger belts prior to departure
- Transports passengers to and from Medical Center safely and complies with highway laws
- Prepares incident reports as necessary
- Assists Dispatcher, Supervisor or Director with transportation logistics, statistics, patient follow-ups and marketing activities
- Keeps accurate maintenance records for vehicles
- Serves patients lunch, unpacks supplies, and checks refrigerator contents
- Provides errand services for the Medical Center when time permits
