Job Requirements

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must have a minimum of three years' experience in a supervisory position
  • Experience in public transit, logistics, public transit safety or related field preferred
  • Possession or ability to obtain Class "C" Florida Commercial Driver's License with Passenger Endorsement within one year
  • Ability to obtain Transit Safety and Security Program Certificate within two years
  • Ability to obtain Florida Drug and Alcohol Program Manager Certificate or Substance Abuse Management and Program Compliance Certificate within one year
  • Must comply with Federal Transit Administration drug and alcohol regulations
  • Ability to work as essential personnel during emergencies

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum three years' supervisory experience
  • Preferred experience in public transit, logistics, or public transit safety
  • Preferred possession of Class "C" Florida Commercial Driver's License with Passenger Endorsement
  • Ability to obtain Transit Safety and Security Program Certificate within two years
  • Ability to obtain Florida Drug and Alcohol Program Manager Certificate or Substance Abuse Management Certificate within one year
  • Knowledge of para-transit passenger bus operations
  • Understanding of transit dispatching and scheduling procedures
  • Strong communication and data analysis skills
  • Ability to plan and supervise work of others
  • Ability to maintain accurate records
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with diverse groups

Job Duties

  • Report to the Department Director on agency safety related to operations, vehicles, facilities, customers, and personnel
  • Monitor program effectiveness and prepare periodic safety reports
  • Investigate, classify, and review accidents, incidents, and occurrences
  • Develop corrective safety measures to prevent recurrence
  • Conduct accident investigations and incident reviews, including video analysis
  • Ensure compliance with federal transit safety regulations and agency safety programs
  • Develop and facilitate safety training programs for operations and maintenance staff
  • Manage the agency's Drug and Alcohol Program Plan and coordinate related testing
  • Maintain work records for drivers and employees
  • Develop safety key performance indicators and analyze trends
  • Assist in the hiring process of new transit operators
  • Provide transportation coordination during county emergency operations
  • Perform other related duties as required
  • Comply with Federal Transit Administration drug and alcohol regulations
  • Serve as essential personnel during emergencies
