Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • valid Arizona Driver's License at time of appointment
  • residency in the United States within 25 miles of City of San Luis
  • ability to operate city vehicles safely
  • maintain all required licenses and certifications throughout employment
  • physical ability to perform required job functions including walking, standing, bending, and lifting up to 25 pounds
  • fluency in Spanish preferred
  • patrol and code enforcement experience desired

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • knowledge of state laws and municipal ordinances governing parking regulation
  • proficiency with two-way radios and handheld electronic ticketing devices
  • understanding of city operations, organizational structure, policies, and procedures
  • ability to prepare clear, concise, and accurate reports
  • strong communication skills both verbal and written
  • ability to build and maintain effective working relationships
  • uphold professionalism and integrity
  • ability to assess situations quickly and make sound decisions
  • bilingual in Spanish and English preferred

Job Duties

  • Enforce parking and public transportation laws and regulations by patrolling assigned areas on foot, bicycle, or in a vehicle
  • identify violations and issue citations or warnings in accordance with city or state laws, regulations, ordinances and procedures
  • respond to reports of illegal activity, traffic congestion, or other related concerns
  • collaborate with police, fire, or public safety agencies as appropriate
  • engage with the public to address questions, concerns, and complaints
  • investigate and respond to customer complaints or refer issues to supervisors or other departments
  • educate the public on parking regulations and citation procedures
  • provide general information to the public including directions and city geography
  • inspect public transportation vehicles and drivers to ensure compliance
  • maintain and service parking enforcement equipment including meters and machines
  • perform minor maintenance and report complex issues
  • collect funds from parking meters and deliver to City Hall
  • identify need for curb repainting or signage updates and report recommendations
  • direct traffic at intersections or locations as requested
  • perform other related duties as assigned
