Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in culinary, nutrition, or related field
  • Three years’ experience in high-volume food service operation
  • Training from accredited culinary program counts for one year of experience
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Detail oriented and goal driven
  • Assertive and willing to learn and assume responsibility
  • Flexible attitude and team collaboration skills
  • Excellent organizational, management and interpersonal skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Spanish language skill is a plus

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a culinary, nutrition, or related field

Job Duties

  • Develop and administer programs for Culinary Skills Training and Kitchen Basics for all Dallas ISD campuses
  • Develop and deliver on the job training and coaching to ensure quality food production for new hires and current employees
  • Administer Serve Safe Food Safety and/or Food Handler training regularly for 1,100+ department staff
  • Observe workers engaged in preparing and portioning foods to ensure that methods of cooking and size of portions follow the most current copy of the standardized recipes
  • Deliver timely feedback and suggestions to respective area supervisors, campus supervisors, and employees when observing issues not consistent with standard operating procedures
  • Report to the Professional Development Manager in support of training initiatives
  • Collaborate with the Professional Development Manager and Director of Support Services to implement new concepts and special projects
  • Assist the Menu/Procurement Manager and Menu Supervisor to develop, test, and modify standardized recipes
  • Support FCNS efforts to produce the highest quality products consistently
  • Develop and revise face to face and virtual professional development material and presentations
  • Assist with curriculum development and implementation of the training program, ensuring training material and equipment needs are met
  • Assist in coordinating compliance documents as needed for Texas Department of Agriculture, Administrative Review, or other USDA reviews
  • Develop and facilitate training for program regulations and provide technical assistance to campuses
  • Track and maintain civil rights certificates for all 1400+ employees
  • Compile, maintain, and secure all physical and electronic reports, records, and employee certifications
  • Track and maintain food handlers and compliance certifications for all temporary employees
  • Investigate and resolve issues related to food quality complaints
  • Assist and support Campus Supervisors with day to day operations and coaching
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
  • Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned
  • Comply with federally mandated time and effort reporting requirements as appropriate
