Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in tourism, public relations, business administration, hotel or restaurant management, marketing, journalism, or related program
  • Two years of hotel management, hotel sales, or travel agent experience or equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Applicants within six months of meeting minimum education/experience may be considered for trainee status
  • Valid Florida driver license
  • Motor vehicle record that meets Alachua County policy #6-7
  • Review of motor vehicle record prior to employment
  • No more than three moving traffic infractions or three at fault motor vehicle accidents in past 24 months
  • No convictions or pending charges for driving under the influence
  • Compliance with Federal or State law or regulation standards
  • Successful completion of applicable background checks pre-hire and ongoing

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in tourism, public relations, business administration, hotel or restaurant management, marketing, journalism, or a related field
  • At least two years of experience in hotel management, hotel sales, or travel agency services
  • Proven ability to manage and develop tourism-related programs
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic plans

Job Duties

  • Manage tourism development programs to ensure alignment with departmental and county objectives
  • Plan and develop methods and procedures for implementing programs to generate leads for conferences, conventions, meetings, and other group room business
  • Direct and coordinate program activities related to group business development
  • Exercise control and provide supervision over subordinate employees handling specific program functions or phases
  • Collaborate with stakeholders in the hospitality and tourism sector to enhance program effectiveness
  • Monitor and report on program performance and outcomes to higher-level supervisors
  • Ensure compliance with county policies and relevant regulations in program implementation
