Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in tourism, public relations, business administration, hotel/restaurant management, marketing, journalism, or a related program
- two years of hotel management, hotel sales, or travel agent experience
- valid Florida driver license
- motor vehicle record that meets Alachua County policy #6-7 requirements
- successful completion of all applicable pre-hire and ongoing background checks
- availability and willingness to work during declared disasters or emergencies
- ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
- ability to sit, talk, hear, reach, and be mobile as part of physical job demands
Job Qualifications

Job Duties

- supervises and coordinates the activities of subordinate employees including interviewing, hiring, and training employees
- planning, assigning, and directing work

- addressing work-related complaints and resolving problems
- develops editorial calendar and creates targeted, effective media pitches and editorial submissions that increase exposure of tourist development
- assists with creating and/or enhancing the marketing plan for Alachua County Tourist Development and reviews reports and records of activities to ensure progress toward specific program objectives
- represents tourist development program at public meetings as necessary
- meets with local educational faculty, staff, clubs and organizations, government agencies, and associations to develop community relations and promote available assistance
- works closely with local business community to communicate the Tourist Development vision and involve them in servicing meetings and conventions
- develops programs/resources for community stakeholders to support advertising efforts
- develops and/or assists in development, implementation, and maintenance of related computer programs
- evaluates current procedures and practices for accomplishing program objectives and coordinates activities with other County departments
- provides strategic direction for prospecting and qualifying clients to develop sales accounts for meetings, conventions, and trade shows
- assists with maintaining accreditation standards and compliance with policy and processes
- reports to advisory boards on advertising efficiencies, budget expenditure, and outcomes
- oversees special projects and assists with new tourism product development and initiatives
- oversees and develops weekly events guide to increase engagement
- reviews invoices and ensures contract compliance by vendors and consultants
- conducts stakeholder and consumer research and advises on emerging market opportunities
- provides creative content direction for internal projects and outside vendors
- drives a vehicle to perform required duties
- performs duties with professionalism and urgency
