Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • good driving record for the past three years
  • valid Texas Class C driver's license
  • completion of Defensive Driving Course within last two years
  • possession of Corpus Christi-Nueces County Health Card
  • ability to read and interpret documents
  • ability to write reports and correspondence
  • ability to perform basic mathematical operations
  • ability to apply instructions and solve problems
  • knowledge of local roads
  • ability to interact with elderly population
  • basic vehicle maintenance knowledge
  • ability to maintain records
  • physical ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds
  • able to work in moderate noise and occasional outdoor weather conditions
  • ability to communicate in Spanish preferred
  • preferred CPR training

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or general education degree (GED)

  • ability to read and interpret safety rules and procedure manuals
  • ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • ability to speak effectively before groups
  • ability to perform basic math computations including rate, ratio, and percent
  • ability to apply common sense understanding to work instructions
  • valid Texas Class C driver's license
  • certificate of completion of Defensive Driving Course within last two years
  • possession of Corpus Christi-Nueces County Health Card
  • knowledge of local roads and geographic areas
  • ability to understand and deal effectively with elderly persons
  • knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance techniques
  • ability to maintain simple records
  • proficiency in Spanish and English highly desirable
  • CPR training preferred

Job Duties

  • drive a 15 and/or 12 passenger van providing transportation to senior citizens and delivering supplies to other centers and meals to homebound seniors
  • provide supervision and assistance to passengers while boarding and unboarding and while in route to and from appointments
  • coordinate daily van route with supervisor to best utilize time and fuel
  • perform daily routine maintenance checks and report maintenance needs
  • maintain transportation and meal delivery records and complete required transportation reports
  • make safety decisions regarding passenger transport
  • support community center tasks such as supplies pickup and cleaning as schedule permits
  • prepare monthly reports of meal deliveries
