Job Requirements

  • Must be 18 or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Food Safety Certified
  • One to three years of related experience
  • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force frequently and up to 10 pounds constantly
  • Visual acuity including depth perception, color vision, and field of vision
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Hy-Vee food safety training
  • food safety certified
  • One to three years of similar or related work experience
  • Prior meal preparation experience preferred
  • Ability to do logical or scientific thinking to solve problems
  • Ability to do arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages
  • Ability to compose original correspondence and follow technical manuals
  • Strong interpersonal skills for customer interaction and team collaboration

Job Duties

  • Prepares fresh sushi for customers both packaged and made-to-order
  • Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience
  • Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner both in the department and elsewhere in the store
  • Makes an effort to learn customers’ names and address them by name
  • Answers the telephone promptly and provides friendly, helpful service including taking product orders
  • Assists customers by escorting them to products, securing out-of-reach items, loading/unloading heavy items, noting and passing along customer requests
  • Works with co-workers as a team and provides training to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment
  • Understands and practices proper sanitation procedures and maintains a clean and neat work area
  • Involved in schedules and overseeing food ordering and planning
  • Communicates with customers regarding food and preparation
  • Aids in merchandising sushi foods and food layout
  • Attends company and industry meetings as assigned
  • Adheres to company policies and report to work on time
