Job Requirements

  • College degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • two years of supervisory experience in emergency communication centers
  • one year field provider experience
  • certification as Emergency Medical Dispatcher
  • valid Class E Drivers license
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • ability to operate dispatch and communication equipment
  • ability to work under high-stress situations
  • physical ability to sit or stand for long periods
  • mental and physical quick reaction to emergencies
  • knowledge of flight tracking for helicopters
  • ability to maintain detailed records
  • proficiency in data entry and information evaluation
  • patient and emotionally stable

Job Qualifications

  • Two years of supervisory experience in public safety emergency communication centers
  • one year experience as a field provider and teaching experience
  • state of Missouri EMT or EMT-P license preferred
  • EMD-Q certification preferred
  • Certified Flight Communicator (CFC)
  • Operational Control Specialist (OCS) through NAACS
  • Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) certification by NAED
  • Class E Driver's license with safe driving record
  • excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • knowledge of emergency telecommunications operations and regional geography
  • proficiency in communication equipment and dispatch software
  • ability to provide Dispatch Life Support (DLS)

Job Duties

  • Exercise independent judgment in daily operations
  • support field and dispatch personnel in pre-hospital triage, medical care, and transport
  • operate communication equipment for emergency and non-emergency calls
  • determine exact incident locations
  • dispatch and track EMS units
  • provide Dispatch Life Support and post-dispatch instructions
  • coordinate Life Line helicopter flights
  • maintain documentation and records
  • relay operational information to staff and supervisors
