Located in the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains near Travelers Rest, South Carolina, their Camp WaBak spans 135 acres comprising forests, trails, a lakefront, a creek with a waterfall, and cabins, offering an idyllic natural environment. Job Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years old
- High school diploma or equivalent required advanced education or college preferred
- Successful reference check drug screen and background check
- ServSafe certification or equivalent kitchen management and food safety experience required
- Experience with meal planning ordering and dietary accommodations required
- Supervision experience preferred
- Ability to use computer for food orders and inventory management
- Ability to prepare and serve meals Sunday dinner through Friday lunch and occasional weekends
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Must hold personal membership in Girl Scout organization and subscribe to Girl Scout Promise and Law
- Ability to drive preferred but not required must possess valid license and meet auto insurance requirements
- Must maintain good personal hygiene and wear protective clothing in kitchen
- Ability to perform physical work including stooping kneeling bending reaching standing walking pushing pulling lifting and operating kitchen utensils and equipment
- Ability to exert up to 40 pounds of force occasionally and negligible force constantly
- Willingness to work in both indoor un-air-conditioned kitchen and outdoor environments with varying weather conditions
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent advanced education or college preferred
- ServSafe certification or documented experience in kitchen management and food safety
- Experience with meal planning ordering food and accommodating a variety of dietary needs
- Supervision experience preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to make independent decisions and interact effectively with staff volunteers and children
- Personal membership in the Girl Scout organization and subscription to the Girl Scout Promise and Law
- Ability to use a computer for food orders and inventory management
- Ability to prepare and serve meals Sunday dinner through Friday lunch with occasional weekends
- Ability to drive preferred with valid driver's license and personal auto insurance meeting council requirements
- Bilingual Spanish communication preferred but not required
Job Duties
- Manage and supervise food planning purchasing and preparation for the camp
- Maintain health and safety standards in the dining hall according to Girl Scout Safety Activity Checkpoint standards ACA and DHEC regulations
- Lead the timely preparation and serving of all summer meals consumed in the dining hall
- Supervise two kitchen assistants and delegate job assignments
- Plan and prepare healthy and creative meals that accommodate dietary needs including allergies vegetarian vegan and gluten free menus
- Estimate needs order receive and store food products and supplies
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen dining room and bathrooms
- Prepare an evaluation and summary of the current season including inventories and recommendations
- Ensure camp facilities meet established standards and coordinate with property staff
- Support other camp functions and perform additional duties as assigned
