Job Description
Girl Scouts of South Carolina - Mountains to Midlands (GSSC-MM) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering girls through unique and engaging outdoor experiences in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Located in Travelers Rest, South Carolina, the Camp WaBak facility spans 135 acres of forest, trails, lakefront, and creeks, providing an enriching natural setting perfect for activities such as canoeing, hiking, archery, environmental education, and team-building challenges. Job Requirements
- must be at least 18 years old
- no prior Girl Scout experience required
- ability to work from Sunday dinner through Friday lunch every week during summer and occasional weekends
- valid driver’s license and personal auto insurance preferred
- able to pass drug test and background check
- ability to stoop, kneel, bend, stand, walk, push, pull, lift up to 40 pounds
- maintain good personal hygiene
- wear appropriate kitchen protective clothing including long pants, closed toed shoes, and hair coverings
- able to work in un-air-conditioned kitchen and outdoor settings with varying weather conditions
Job Qualifications
- high school diploma preferred
- servsafe certification or equivalent preferred
- experience with food preparation and kitchen procedures in camp or institutional settings
- ability to communicate effectively with staff, leadership, campers, and parents
- ability to work under supervision and follow directions
- bilingual Spanish verbal communication preferred but not required
- personal membership in Girl Scout organization and adherence to Girl Scout Promise and Law
Job Duties
- assist kitchen manager/head cook in meal preparation and delivery
- maintain cleanliness and safety in kitchen and dining areas
- prepare food including washing, peeling, cutting vegetables and meats
- manage inventory and organize product deliveries
- operate industrial dishwasher and perform kitchen maintenance
- participate in cleaning dining areas and restrooms
- ensure camp facilities meet established health and safety standards
