Job Description

Associated Students (AS) at California State University, Chico is a comprehensive campus auxiliary corporation committed to serving thousands of students, faculty, staff, and community members. AS manages a diverse range of student programs, services, and business enterprises, including residential and retail dining services, the Bell Memorial Union (BMU), and the Wildcat Recreation Center (WREC). Job Requirements

  • Currently enrolled at CSU Chico with minimum 6 undergraduate units or 4 graduate units
  • Prior experience with Adventure Outings required
  • Availability for mandatory training January 12-16 in Chico
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube
  • Basic graphic design abilities preferred
  • Ability to work up to 20 hours per week
  • Willingness to participate in events and appear on social media as spokesperson
  • Ability to lift packages up to 25 pounds
  • Must complete all new employee documents including Form W-4 and Form I-9 with original documents
  • Students with F-1 visa must provide additional documentation and obtain Social Security Number

Job Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in 6 undergraduate units or 4 graduate units at CSU Chico
  • Previous experience with Adventure Outings required
  • Major in marketing, journalism/public relations, communications/new media, graphic design, video production, or relevant field preferred
  • Knowledge of social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube
  • Basic graphic design skills with tools like Canva preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to develop and coordinate marketing and promotion strategies
  • Ability to write effective marketing copy with excellent grammar and punctuation
  • Proficient in computer use and applicable software for word processing and basic graphic design
  • Ability to develop and schedule social media campaigns
  • Ability to track analytics across communication channels
  • Ability to develop and maintain working relationships with campus community, coworkers, and the public
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet multiple competing deadlines

Job Duties

  • Work with the marketing team to develop and manage social media promotions for Adventure Outings social media channels
  • Manage and implement content calendar for social channels and attend events for social media coverage
  • Act as primary spokesperson for social media promotions and be comfortable appearing on camera
  • Coordinate promotion of program events and initiatives through content plans and social media platforms such as CatsConnect, campus announcements, text notifications, AS website updates, calendar entries, blog posts, and mentions in The Latest
  • Collaborate with the design team to create compelling graphics for marketing campaigns
  • Work with program area to direct messages and emails in a timely fashion
  • Meet with program area regularly to discuss content needs throughout the semester
  • Work with ASMD team and program to determine specific outreach needs such as tabling, class talks, whiteboard blitzes if requested
  • Work with program leadership to identify specific marketing needs
  • Attend staff meetings as directed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
