Cal Poly Pomona Enterprises Employment Services is an integral part of the California State Polytechnic University, Pomona campus, providing employment opportunities to a diverse student body. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent general education degree (GED)
  • Enrolled as a Cal Poly Pomona student
  • Ability to obtain ServeSafe certification within 30 days of hire date for food handlers
  • Ability to multitask
  • Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance and adhere to schedule
  • Flexible work schedule subject to campus holidays and closures

  • Enrolled as a Cal Poly Pomona student
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to multitask
  • Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance and adhere to schedule
  • Ability to obtain ServeSafe certification within 30 days of hire date for food handlers
  • Preferred 6 months quick service restaurant experience

Job Duties

  • Prepare fruits, vegetables, meats, doughs, marinades and seasonings for chefs and line cooks
  • Consult stocking requirements and pick lists to thaw items from cold storage
  • Sanitize kitchen surfaces, tools, utensils and wash food prior to preparation
  • Document items pulled from storage and detail food or liquid waste
  • Follow executive chef instructions for using leftover food
  • Coordinate with wait staff on diner volumes to anticipate prep work
  • Assist chefs with preparation of dishes including special orders
  • Adhere to cleaning and equipment breakdown schedules
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of dish room
  • Use and maintain commercial dishwashers and sinks
  • Perform safety training including chemical handling
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by greeting customers and answering questions
  • Carry dirty dishes from dining to dish room
  • Wipe and sanitize tabletops, chairs and dining equipment
  • Restock designated stations and ensure drink machines are filled
  • Maintain cleanliness of restrooms
  • Sweep and mop dining areas as needed
  • Process transactions using registers and maintain front cashier area
  • Communicate effectively with guests and team members
  • Work in a team environment to expedite orders
  • Perform other duties as assigned
