Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, architecture, or engineering preferred
- eight to twelve years project management experience
- proven track record of exemplary customer service
- knowledge of design and construction business practices
- experience with design and construction methodologies for various buildings and systems
- proficiency in MS Office and MS Project
- good communication skills
- ability to work under limited supervision
- strong negotiation and problem-solving skills
- familiarity with AutoCAD and BIM preferred
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, architecture, or engineering preferred
- eight to twelve years project management experience with a proven track record of exemplary customer service
- knowledge of design and construction business practices including scope preparation, contract issues, insurance requirements, labor rates, invoicing
- experience and knowledge of design and construction methodologies for various building types, mechanical and electrical systems, and construction delivery methods
- strategic thinker with proven planning skills
- ability to coordinate and prioritize tasks, resolve problems, negotiate solutions
- builds and sustains positive and collaborative working relationships with diverse constituents
- proficient in MS Office, MS Project, pdf mark-up software
- familiarity with AutoCAD and BIM
Job Duties
- Manages new construction, renovation, tenant fit-out, and capital renewal projects ranging in cost up to and often exceeding $20M
- typical assignments include multiple projects with tight timelines, focused programs, difficult logistics and fixed budgets
- works cohesively with all units within Johns Hopkins Facilities and Real Estate department
- represents the university to external constituencies including architects, engineers, constructors, regulatory agencies
- provides exemplary customer service by actively managing the entire design and construction project including initiation, design, budget, and construction, providing timely and accurate updates to the client representative
- reviews program requirements and scope with client representative and users, implements economic inclusion goals for each project
- develops project milestone schedules and utilizes PMWeb for all project documentation and records
- prepares and manages requests for proposals for design and construction services
- analyzes bids and makes award recommendations
- prepares contracts and purchase orders for vendors
- coordinates internal and external project reviews ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and sustainable practices
- monitors project budgets including establishing, maintaining, and monitoring project budgets and approving invoices and change orders
- coordinates project logistics and communicates with constituents regarding project planning and progress
- reviews RFIs and submittals for compliance and manages procurements for project needs
- demonstrates superior written and oral communication skills, negotiates solutions, and builds collaborative relationships
- makes project decisions based on department standards and provides day-to-day project management with limited supervision
