Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in event management, hospitality, communications, or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in event planning or management

Job Duties

  • Plan and execute a wide range of events including conferences, seminars, workshops, receptions, and other special events
  • Collaborate with various departments and stakeholders to understand their event needs and goals and develop event strategies
  • Create detailed event plans, timelines, and budgets ensuring all aspects of the event are well-organized and within budget
  • Source and negotiate with vendors such as caterers, venues, and entertainment to ensure high-quality services at competitive prices
  • Oversee event logistics including venue set-up, audiovisual equipment, transportation, and accommodations
  • Manage event registration, guest lists, and RSVPs ensuring accuracy and timely communication with attendees
  • Lead and supervise event staff including event coordinators and volunteers to ensure smooth execution of events
  • Develop and implement effective marketing and communication strategies to promote events and increase attendance
  • Monitor and report on event budgets, expenses, and revenue and make recommendations for cost-saving measures
  • Conduct post-event evaluations and gather feedback to continuously improve event planning processes and procedures
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in event planning and make recommendations for incorporating new ideas and technologies into events
  • Maintain strong relationships with vendors, sponsors, and other partners to ensure successful collaborations and future event opportunities
  • Uphold Johns Hopkins University's brand and reputation by delivering exceptional events that align with the institution's values and mission
  • Adhere to all relevant legal and safety regulations and protocols during event planning and execution
  • Represent Johns Hopkins University in a professional and positive manner at all times
