Job Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience as a sous chef or kitchen manager in a high-volume, full-service restaurant
  • culinary degree or equivalent hands-on experience in a scratch kitchen environment
  • strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • deep appreciation for authentic barbecue and a desire to continue learning and evolving culinary techniques
  • solid understanding of food cost, labor management, and kitchen operations
  • ability to thrive under pressure and maintain a calm, focused presence
  • comfortable working on feet for extended periods
  • able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • must be able to bend, stoop, and lift up to 25 lbs

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef to manage all aspects of kitchen operations including prep, execution, inventory, and cleanliness
  • ensure all dishes are prepared to company specifications in taste, appearance, and portioning
  • maintain the highest standards of food safety, cleanliness, and sanitation
  • train, supervise, and mentor kitchen staff
  • foster a culture of teamwork and accountability
  • assist in managing food and labor costs to achieve company goals
  • support in scheduling and managing daily kitchen workflow especially during peak service hours
  • uphold the core culinary traditions and standards that define Midwood Smokehouse while remaining open to innovation
