Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • five years experience in culinary roles
  • ServSafe Food Handler certification
  • experience in high volume retail food service preferred
  • knowledge of food safety codes and HACCP standards
  • ability to communicate effectively in English
  • strong leadership and team management skills
  • good math and computer proficiency
  • commitment to safety and sanitation
  • ability to work flexible shifts including days
  • physical ability to perform kitchen duties

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • formal culinary training highly preferred
  • ServSafe Food Handler certification required upon hire
  • minimum 5 years experience directly related to culinary duties
  • experience in all types of cooking and cuisine
  • menu planning and catering experience
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • good basic math and computer skills
  • ability to follow and enforce safety regulations in a healthcare foodservice environment
  • positive attitude

Job Duties

  • Train and manage kitchen personnel
  • assist with managing kitchen operations
  • coordinate all functions including interviewing, evaluations, and disciplinary actions
  • complete data for financial and productivity reporting
  • ensure compliance with food quality and safety regulations
  • cover for Executive Chef during absence
  • manage preparation of nutritious and delicious food using various cooking methods
  • ensure adherence to HACCP and Health Department guidelines
  • develop and monitor food and supply budgets
  • oversee labor expenses
  • participate in HR functions such as interviewing and coaching
  • ensure smooth operation of shifts and menu adherence
  • create memorable patient and customer experiences
  • promote a team atmosphere
  • specify and order food and supplies
  • prepare and approve food items to meet quality standards
  • train team in food preparation and cooking techniques
  • continuously seek opportunities for performance improvement
  • collaborate on menu and recipe development
  • perform other assigned duties
  • comply with Wellstar policies and code of conduct
