Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • previous experience in a similar sous chef or culinary role
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • strong organizational skills
  • physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items
  • excellent communication skills
  • ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

Job Duties

  • assist the executive chef in all phases of meal preparation
  • prepare salad bar offerings, desserts, and bakery items
  • maintain the highest standards of sanitation and safety practices in all phases of kitchen operation, food preparation, and storage
  • maintain a working knowledge of culinary methods as related to ingredient preparation and recipe execution
  • assist executive chef with meal preparation as assigned
  • assist in procurement of food inventory and supplies
  • properly label and store food items in accordance with safe storage standards
  • understand the operation and maintenance of kitchen equipment such as food processor, dishwasher, convection oven, etc
  • maintain a clean and sanitary work environment, including floors
  • responsible for creation and preparation of baked food items, breads, desserts, etc
  • perform scheduled cleaning of equipment and work according to schedule as planned by the executive chef
