Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent certification
- 3-5 years experience as a sous chef in a large-scale restaurant or hospitality environment
- 3+ years experience managing teams in high-volume settings
- ability to work rotating schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
- valid California noncommercial Class C License at hire
- ability to pass background and Live Scan checks
- must be 18 years or older
- successful physical examination
- maintain a satisfactory driving record
- acknowledgment of mandatory reporting under CANRA
Job Qualifications
- 3-5 years demonstrated experience as a sous chef in a large-scale restaurant or hospitality environment
- 3+ years experience leading or managing teams in a high-volume environment
- demonstrated ability as a managing executive sous chef leading a culinary production team specializing in vegan/vegetarian/healthy cuisine
- culinary knowledge of food inventory, recipes, menus, and production methods including vegan/vegetarian/healthy cuisine
- ability to organize, delegate, and monitor work assignments
- demonstrated ability to control costs including food, labor, and supply
- experience hiring, training, supervising, scheduling, and evaluating employees
- working knowledge of safety and sanitation rules with group training experience
- skill in leading team members for outstanding customer service
- ability to work effectively with interruptions and changing priorities
- ability to analyze and solve operational problems
- experience in developing healthy and nutritious recipes
- proficiency in equipment operation such as mixers, food processors, ovens, and grills
- skill in measuring food stuffs accurately
- ability to use software for reports and spreadsheets
- valid California Driver's License
Job Duties
- provide sound team leadership and direction to production staff
- assign, motivate, and monitor the work of assistant cooks and food service workers
- prepare complex menu items according to culinary, production, and quality standards
- utilize production equipment safely and train others in its usage
- ensure customer service excellence and adherence to food handling and sanitation guidelines
- maintain accurate service records, temperature logs, and production records
- supervise, schedule, and train team members
- control food and labor costs
- contribute to menu and recipe development
- interact positively with team members in a high volume environment
- perform other management-assigned responsibilities
