Job Requirements

  • Must obtain and maintain all required federal, state, and city licenses and certifications
  • must pass background check
  • must pass drug screening
  • must be at least 21 years of age
  • must be able to work holidays, weekends, and flexible shifts
  • prior experience opening new properties or outlets preferred
  • physical ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend for extended periods
  • ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds
  • ability to operate hazardous equipment
  • ability to tolerate exposure to heat, cold, chemicals, noise
  • legal eligibility for required licensing
  • ability to travel occasionally
  • ability to work evenings, holidays, and special events

Job Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Culinary Arts or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years of experience in kitchens of 4-5 star hotel operations
  • 2 years experience in free-standing restaurant kitchens preferred
  • luxury hotel experience preferred
  • experience in NYC union environments and knowledge of NYC CBA/IWA
  • working knowledge of local hospitality industry and culture
  • knowledge of industry trends
  • strong communication, organizational and budgeting skills
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • fluency in English
  • additional languages preferred

Job Duties

  • Create atmosphere encouraging guests to choose Hard Rock for events
  • hire, train, motivate, evaluate, and supervise kitchen staff
  • establish and maintain training and development procedures
  • maintain department objectives, standards, guidelines, and budget
  • monitor food purchasing, staffing, food preparation, and inventory
  • evaluate food preparation techniques and quality
  • assist in developing menu changes
  • advise on food storage to ensure quality
  • assist Chef in other kitchen areas as needed
  • attend and participate in meetings
  • perform work regularly and predictably
  • perform other duties as assigned
