Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience working with animals in a shelter, veterinary clinic, or similar setting preferred
  • State certification if applying for CVT
  • Ability to lift, push, pull or carry 50 pounds
  • Preferred knowledge of animal behavior, care, and welfare
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Required ability to comprehend technical and medical terminology
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Physical ability to lift and carry animals and supplies, bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods
  • Proficient use of computer, email, internet and shelter specific software
  • Must be able to make decisions for all animals while considering shelter and public safety

Job Duties

  • Greet clients and their pets warmly and professionally
  • Provide excellent customer service in person, over the phone, and via email
  • Schedule surgeries for the public, staff, and rescue partners
  • Support communication between clients and the treatment team to help the day stay on track
  • Create and update animal records daily
  • Enter veterinary notes from surgeries and appointments throughout the day
  • Create invoices, process payments, and manage client transactions accurately
  • Assist with various administrative tasks and general office upkeep
  • Perform other duties as needed
